A young girl is being chased by a man at midnight while hanging out with her friend and it was permissible by her mother, suddenly while running she clashes with a car on the main street and died, as shown in the initial stages of the movie.
Her mother Rukshana(Shefali Shah), is not giving up on the case of her daughter's death ultimately connected to an honored journalist Maya(Vidya Balan) who starts the investigation with police and her media house.
Unluckily, no one is worthy of trust in terms of unfolding the mystery of the concerned case. Vidya met a man who advises her not to reveal anything as according to him, it is better to hide such things these days.
