Vande Bharat Mission Updates: Through Sea & Air India’s Biggest Evacuation Mission on roll

The Vande Bharat Mission has gained momentum as flights & Navyships are touching homeland. Kicked on May 8th, a week long repatriation mission is the largest ever by any Country for evacuating it’s people from anywhere in the world. On May 9, the first of the seven Air India flights from the UK chapter of the Vande Bharat Mission- a massive repatriation programme took off for Mumbai from London's Heathrow Airport. In just two days of the largest repatriation mission thousands of Indians have been brought back to various cities through sea and air routes.

In last 48 hours several flights including one from Singapore and another from Riyadh have landing in Delhi and Kairapur airport in Kerala, while the Operation Samudra Setu by the Indian Navy to evacuate Indians stranded abroad using naval ships kicked off from the Maldives on Friday. The INS Jalashwa, the ship of the Eastern Naval Command is scheduled to reach Kochi by Sunday with about thousand of Indians onboard. India is carrying out World’s biggest ever evacuation operation under VandeBharatMission to evacuate Indians stranded abroad amid Covid19 pandemic.

An Air India flight carrying Indian Nationals stuck at Riyadh landed in Kojhikode in Kerala today. Further, 64 flights and three navy ships will be sent to evacuate citizens  stranded abroad in the wake of the ongoing pandemic and resulting travel restrictions and lockdown operations. Under the Mission, nearly 15000 citizens are expected to return back to India.

Mission Updates (Thursday/ Friday)-

On Thursday, India bought back its 700 citizens stranded in Maldives by INS Jalashwa under Operation Samudra Setu of India navy to repatriate the citizens stuck in different parts of the world.

• The evacuation operation started on Thursday when the first flight landed at Cochin Airport from Abhu Dhabi at around 10 PM with 177 passengers.  
• Air India's first flight to Singapore departed from Delji at around 11:20 pm under Vande Matram Mission.

• Citizens bound for Delhi have reached the airport in Dhaka under VandeBharatMission will be taking them homes today. 129 passengers are booked for the flight', High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh said.
• Another special flight from UAE carrying around 177 Indian nationals , has arrived at Chennai Airport.', ANI tweeted.

Students from Jammu and Kashmir who are being brought back from Dhaka express their gratitude toward the government and Indian embassy in Bangladesh.

On Friday, an Air India flight carrying 182 passengers from Bahrain landed at Cochin International airport.Around 250 Indian students and tourists stranded in the UK for nearly two months are also preparing to board the first repatriation flight from London to Mumbai on Saturday. The flight from London to Mumbai marks the first of seven Air India routes organised by the government to six Indian cities over the next week.

#VandeBharatMission: An Air India flight carrying 129 passengers from Dhaka, Bangladesh has landed at Delhi airport. Eight flights from 7 countries to land in India today.

NOTE- The 2nd Mega phase of #VandeBharatMission to evacuate Indian from these following countries including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Ukraine and Thailand. It will start from 15 May, said reliable source.
