Angel Manuel Soto is a Puerto Rican film director and producer known for his work in virtual reality and film. He was born on November 18, 1984, in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
Soto began his career as a filmmaker with the release of his short film "Dolores" in 2009. He went on to direct several other short films before directing his first feature film, "La Granja" in 2015, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
In 2018, Soto directed the virtual reality documentary "Dear Angelica," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Oculus VR. The film is notable for being the first virtual reality film to use hand-drawn animation.
Soto gained wider recognition in 2020 with his feature film "Charm City Kings," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was released by HBO Max. The film, which Soto directed and co-wrote, follows a 14-year-old boy who becomes involved in Baltimore's dirt-bike culture.
